While I do have a terminal degree, my career has not been that of the traditional academic. My path includes work in a wide variety of settings ranging from nonprofits to military contractors. I am an instructional designer with experience in industry and higher education (public, private, and for-profit). My background includes working in student services as a career counselor, academic advisor, and instructor for first-year students. I received my doctorate in 2007, in curriculum and instruction – instructional technology, focusing on the online delivery of career services. I also hold graduate degrees in administration and instructional psychology.
I am currently an Online Education Advisor for the Center for Online Education at OnlineColleges.net providing resources, reviews, and education/career information for online students and instructors, as well as moderating a weekly Twitter chat: #IOLchat. You can also find my writing at CareerNetwork.org.
My previous employers include: the Distance Course Design and Consulting (DCDC) Group at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Kaplan Higher Education, KnowledgeTech, Inc., Saint Leo University, the University of South Florida, and Syracuse University.
